The Westford Special Education Parent Advisory Council is excited to welcome back
Attorney Joseph Jussaume to present Basic Rights in Special Education.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This informative workshop will provide an overview of the rights and responsibilities of parents/guardians in the Special Education process. Topics to be discussed include the eligibility process, timelines, and advocacy. The presenter will also clarify some of the “alphabet soup” of Special Education ‐ defining terms such as FAPE, LRE, IDEA, NCLB, and IEP. In addition, Attorney Jussaume will share his “Top 10 Tips” for preparing for a team meeting.
This workshop is geared toward parents of children of all abilities.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Joseph W. Jussaume is an attorney with 15+ years of experience in education, employment, and municipal law. In addition to being an experienced attorney, he is an 8th Grade teacher at the H.J. Robinson Middle School. Joseph has the unique ability to see any education problem from the perspective of the student, parents, teachers, administrators, school and municipality.
All of our meetings are free and open to the public and we welcome parents, care givers, and interested parties of all towns. For the Board elections, only Westford residents may vote.
We would like to thank everyone who came out and attended our workshops this year. We strive to bring informative speakers to Westford for the education of our parents.
Please forward along any ideas of topics or speakers you are interested in seeing in the future.
